GenLayer opened registration for its GEN token airdrop on October 21, 2026, through a post on X and a portal at airdrop.genlayer.com. The window runs until Monday, October 26. The project has published no token launch date, no supply and no allocation, so registration is the only step that exists today.
The post is short. It says GEN airdrop registration is open, that it is for people who have been building GenLayer with the team since the start, and that it closes on Monday, October 26. The portal asks a visitor to verify activity to unlock a GEN reward and offers a wallet connection. That is all the official material says.
Where it stands
The details beyond the post come from Coingabbar, which published a guide on October 22. It reports two eligibility paths. The first is a qualifying role on the GenLayer Discord. The second is 150 or more GenLayer Points plus a contribution or Discord XP. It reports a final snapshot on Sunday, October 25, no gas cost to register, and a registered wallet that cannot be changed afterwards.
The same guide reports the vesting plan: 20 percent of an allocation on the claim day, then 20 percent a month for four months. It also says the claim day and the token generation event, the day a token first trades, have no date or quarter. We could not read those terms on a GenLayer page, so they stay reported rather than confirmed. GenLayer's roadmap on its site lists four phases, Asimov, Bradbury, Clarke and Mainnet, with Q4 2026 as the last label.

GenLayer itself describes the project as a network where many independent AI models each reason on their own and then reach agreement. Its contracts, called Intelligent Contracts, are Python programs that can read web pages and interpret natural language. The consensus that settles disagreements between validators is called Optimistic Democracy. A 2024 post on the project's blog says the chain runs on delegated proof of stake and the GEN token, which is the oldest public reference to the token.
The company behind the protocol, GenLayer Labs, raised a $7.5 million seed round led by North Island Ventures in August 2024. The site lists Arrington Capital, Node Capital, Nansen and others among its backers. A separate GenLayer Foundation calls itself a self-dissolving steward that keeps the protocol neutral until the network can govern itself.
Risks and open questions
The airdrop is real in the sense that the project announced it from its own account and runs its own portal. The economics are not public. Without a supply, an allocation or a claim date, no one can value a registration, and any page that quotes a GEN price or sells early allocations is not working from published facts. Registration costs nothing, so the risk at this stage is the wallet, not the money.
The registration window is also the kind of moment phishing sites copy. The portal's only action is a wallet signature. A site that asks for a seed phrase, a token approval or a fee is not GenLayer's. Our claim guide explains how to tell a signature from an approval.
What to watch:
- A GenLayer page or post that states the eligibility criteria and the snapshot date.
- A claim date, a supply figure and an allocation.
- Mainnet, which the roadmap places in Q4 2026.
We will update this page when GenLayer publishes any of those.
How to position yourself
- Go to airdrop.genlayer.com only by typing the address or from the @GenLayer account on X. Connect the wallet that holds your GenLayer activity and sign the registration message. The portal asks for no payment and no gas.
- Register before Monday, October 26. GenLayer's post gives no time of day, so treat the end of October 25 UTC as the safe deadline.
- Choose the wallet with care. Coingabbar reports that the registered wallet is locked once submitted, so a wallet you still control at claim time is the only sensible pick.
- Ignore any page, message or airdrop link that asks for a seed phrase, a token approval or a fee. The only official portal is airdrop.genlayer.com, and no GEN token exists to claim yet.
Reality check None of these steps guarantee an allocation. Teams change criteria late, add anti-sybil filters, and sometimes never ship a token. Only spend time and gas you are fine writing off.
