Sonic's airdrop claim ends on October 15, 2026. Sonic Labs said in early April that about 32.69 million S from Season 1 and Season 2 were still unclaimed and would be burned after that date. Claims have been penalty-free since April 18 for Season 1 and May 24 for Season 2, so anyone with an allocation has one week left to collect the full amount.

Where it stands

Sonic is a layer 1 chain, and S is its native token. Its documentation says the airdrop program minted 190.5 million S to reward users through Sonic Points, Sonic Gems and Game Gems. Season 1 ended on June 18, 2025, and Season 2 ran until November 1, 2025.

Each allocation paid 25 percent at once. The other 75 percent vested over 270 days as NFT positions, which are tradable on the Airdrop Order Book run by PaintSwap. A linear decay mechanism let a holder claim the vested portion early at the cost of a penalty, and the penalized tokens were burned. That design spread the supply out, but it also left a large pool of positions that were never collected.

In early April 2026, Sonic Labs said about 32.69 million S were still sitting in the airdrop contracts. KuCoin News, citing MarsBit, quoted the announcement. "If not claimed before the deadline, these tokens will be permanently destroyed on October 15, 2026." The Cryptonomist reported the same date on April 2. It added that no further airdrops are planned under this program.

Coingabbar reported that an earlier burn had already removed 16 million S from Season 1 positions in 2026. We cite that as reporting, since we found no Sonic post stating the figure. The Sonic Labs blog, checked on October 8, has no post about the deadline. Its most recent entries, through September 21, cover the team handover, a V2.2 release and supply changes.

What the October 15 deadline means

Two rules apply at once, and both run in the holder's favor until the date. The decay penalty ended on April 18 for Season 1 and on May 24 for Season 2, so a claim made now pays the full remaining amount. After October 15, the contracts stop working as a claim mechanism and instead let anyone trigger the destruction of the remaining balance.

The project names no time of day. Cryptoticker's October 8 update warns that the burn can be triggered at any moment after the date, without further notice. We take that literally and treat October 14 as the last safe day.

The amount at stake is modest for the token and large for an individual. Cryptoticker valued the unclaimed 32.69 million S at about 1.19 million euros on October 5, around 0.9 percent of total supply. An allocation that was small in 2025 is still worth checking, because the alternative is zero.

Risks and what to watch

A dated deadline is the best bait a phishing operation can ask for. The only claim page is the one linked from Sonic's own site, my.soniclabs.com/airdrop. The only secondary market for vesting positions is the PaintSwap order book. Any "extension", "final round" or "re-claim" page is hostile. Sonic Labs has said no more tokens will be minted for this program. Our scam guide covers the patterns, and our claim guide walks through the wallet steps.

Two technical risks are specific to Sonic. Claiming is a transaction on the Sonic chain, so the wallet needs a little S for gas before it can claim. And a vesting NFT that was sold on the order book now belongs to the buyer, so a wallet that once held an allocation may show nothing today.

For a program with the opposite design, a long claim window and a stablecoin payout, see our Grass Stage 2 page. It stays open until January 22, 2027.

What to watch:

  • October 15, 2026: the last claim day.
  • Any Sonic Labs post that changes the date.
  • The burn transaction, which will show how much S was never claimed.

How to position yourself

  1. Connect the wallet you used on Sonic to my.soniclabs.com/airdrop and check whether a Season 1 or Season 2 allocation is waiting. Type the address yourself, do not follow a link.
  2. Claim before October 15. The penalty windows closed on April 18 (Season 1) and May 24 (Season 2), so a claim today pays the full remaining amount.
  3. If your allocation sits in a vesting NFT position, decide whether to hold it or sell it on the PaintSwap airdrop order book. Either is better than leaving it to the burn.
  4. Ignore any page, message or ad offering a Sonic claim extension or a new round. Sonic Labs said no more tokens will be minted for this program.

Reality check None of these steps guarantee an allocation. Teams change criteria late, add anti-sybil filters, and sometimes never ship a token. Only spend time and gas you are fine writing off.
